Who are we?
We are a small, highly experienced group of English teachers who are dedicated to assisting speakers of other languages to acquire greater fluency to help facilitate smoother integration.
We plan as much learning as possible to be carried out in live, everyday environments that are relevant and meaningful to the students. Of course there will always be some class-based study but, let's face it, actually doing something that is a part of your everyday life is much more satisfying and enjoyable than sitting in a stuffy classroom imagining theoretical situations. So if we are going to learn how to book a ticket for a train ride, that's what we do. We go out as a group and pick somewhere to go; a market, a picnic, shops, museums and galleries, the changing of the guard, and so on, using English the whole time.
HOW DO WE PICK THE DESTINATIONS?
Here's the good bit; the students tell us where they want to go. Trips should be free, or very cheap as some of our students are struggling financially and cannot afford expensive trips. We want everyone to be included and not feel embarrassed.
HOW MUCH DOES IT ALL COST?
Nothing! All lessons are completely free and teachers volunteer their time. Fares and incidental costs must be covered by individuals. If you feel able, a suggested £5.00 donation per week is welcome to help cover administration costs.
